Why are there so many effective healing resources available while so many people seem to be merely coping with their symptoms and diagnoses?
For instance, I might hear someone say that they now have diabetes, but their doctor has not told them that it may be reversed nor how to do it. Or their doctor tells them that their liver or kidneys are sluggish as if it is a fate that they have to deal with, with no apparent resolution. I have also noticed some of you who are avoiding your doctor and testing because you don't want the doctor to diagnose you with some horrible disease that you can do nothing about--so you would rather not know about it. But what you may not realize is that gaining insight into what is going on in your body helps you to set a course for your healing.
Do you have symptoms or a condition in which your doctor has not presented you with an effective resolution and you are either resigned to your diagnosis (or lack of diagnosis) and have not found a clear path forward?
How would your life be different if there was a way to improve your health?
There is so much support available, such as health coaching, but it tends to be outside of our pharmaceutical model of medicine--which incidentally is a model which has gotten US healthcare ranked as the worst in the developed world--while we spend the most money on it. *
Most medical doctors are trained in medical schools where much of the funding comes from pharmaceutical companies. Chances are your traditional medical doctor has little to no training in nutrition and healthy lifestyle. So, you can pretty much expect your doctor to either prescribe you a drug, order surgery or tell you its nothing and not to worry about it and to just watch it and manage the symptoms--at which point if you do worry about it, you may be prescribed an anti-depressant. This medical model may work out for you if you have a recognizable microbial issue and you want a quick fix, have an acute trauma, or are at the end of your lifespan and are trying to eek out more time on this lovely planet. But what about the rest of you--which is probably the majority?
--Dr. Andrew Weil, MD*
I believe that the underlying problem on a personal level is that many of you may believe that if our high tech medical system can't resolve your health issue, that it can't be done. Migraines, thyroid issues, high blood pressure, digestive disturbances...are you accepting your current level of health rather than moving towards a resolution?
This concept might be scary for some of you because you might be moving into personal uncharted territory. I know when I was seeking answers to my own health issues over 25 years ago, I didn't understand what other options were available and was desperately seeking an accurate diagnosis. I knew that taking anti-depressants to make me more comfortable living with my ever increasing symptoms was not leading me towards my goal of living a healthy, enjoyable life. I am so grateful that I believed there was a better way.
Do you want to hear the one wish I would love to see come true for you in 2016?
It's a good one. Ready for it?
Next year at this exact time, my wish is that you will send me a personal email that reads something like this:
"Karen, you won't believe it. This past year has been life changing for me and now I feel like I am only getting started! I realized that I never believed that I could live a healthier life. I didn't understand my own potential and had lost faith in the healing capacity of my own body because I was not attending to my own needs. And now that I understand how powerfully my day to day choices effect my wellness, I feel years younger..."
How would you feel is this was you who will write this email?
But you cannot change anything that you don't first believe can be changed.
So, I will pose a question for you--whatever your symptoms or diagnosis:
- Do you believe that you can be healed? And if not, why not?
- Who gave you that limiting belief? Where did it come from?
- Are you ready to let it go?
- Are you ready to start moving forward now? Here you go...
Your brain uses so much energy that it economizes by creating ingrained thought patterns. It is important to create new thought patterns to create the positive change that you desire--so that you can move forward towards your healthy goals. It may take energy and time to make this shift, but then this new positive thought pattern will become the norm and part of a healthier habit.
Even if you believe that you lay outside of the group that can benefit from this exercise because whatever is going on with you is "impossible" to heal--I suggest that you do the exercise anyway. Whenever I believe that I am too old to take on some large task, I recall the story of an 80 some year old woman who decided to go to medical school--and she did and she is now a practicing doctor!
If you would like support to make it happen, schedule a Health Discovery Session to learn about what is possible for you! Dont wait another year--haven't you lived with your symptoms long enough? Get the support you need to put that healthy spark back into your life.
Have a Happy and Healthy New Year 2016!
Lots of Love,
